Ohgie McGee Lets the team down in a close one

Ah, what can I say? It was not my night for shooting for sure. I went 4/13 from the floor and 0/4 from 3pt land. A combined 4/17... arggggg. Shooting that poor can be acceptable if I was getting to the line and shooting some free throws, but tonight I did not even get to the line once! I managed a few steals and some assists, but basically I was in a fog out there tonight. If we were getting blown out, it probably would not have been noticeable, but tonight's game was close. We lost by 17. If I had hit 8 of those 13 misses or went to the line a few time ... ah the what if thoughts can kill ya.

At least I was not the only one out there stinking it up. We still did not have a PF presence on the court. At PF we shot 0/5 although he was responsible for 9 assists which is very nice. Still between PF and PG we missed 22 shots and that is not cool at all.

Ohgie McGee updates team progress so far in Ireland Division 1

Well after 30 days of this season we are placed in the 19th position out of 24 teams. We are not the bottom, but we can definitely see the bottom from where we sit. Oddly enough we just beat someone by 130 points. It is odd because we are usually loosing games. Feels good to win but when you know you are winning vs an inferior team it takes some of the thrill of victory out of the game.

We are still playing without a power forward, which I don't understand. We have short guys playing that position every night just to have another body on the court. Very strange. I would think that almost anyone out there that was a legitimate PF would be better than our SG filling in for a few min or something crazy like that. Are you a PF? Is your rating up in the 50's? You don't even have a character yet? Well what are you waiting for?

Get over to http://www.cyberdunk.com and start yourself a player. It's free, does not take a ton of time and it is fun to watch your player progress!

Ohgie McGee catches up on two months

It has been two months since I last reported out. My mother always said that if I did not have something good to say ... don't say it so I have to simply quote my mom as to why the delay.

Our team stomped through our division and won it all so the owner felt we needed to move to a completely different conference. We were slated to move up the the 1st division in our conference which would have provided us some challenges at least, but the owner wanted more. He up and moved the entire team to the Ireland division 1 league! I even missed the flight on the way over so I was a day or two late in catching up with the team. I was bummed, confused and really have had some adjustments to do even after we found places to live here.

This league is where many players "enhance" their bodies with artificial substances. I have never done that and I am against the league policies that allow players paying big money to "pump it up". The players on our team are all right around my skill level which is a nice change from teams I have played on in the past. Our team still does not have any players at the PF position and I feel that is a severe weakness for us. We have played so many games without a PF I wonder if we will ever get one. It is so silly to see some of our smaller players trying to post up on some other team's big guys. I pass to them simply because that is what the coach wants and I do my job. Let the management deal with which players we have and don't have. That is why they get paid the big bucks, right?

At any rate, I feel a bit unmotivated lately and I am hoping I can get into higher spirits soon. Maybe I should head over to http://www.focusdep.com/ to read some inspiring works from famous people. I can unusually find a story or something I can recharge to there.

Ohgie McGee finding the groove in India ... finally

Well it has been a tough transition for me coming to India. For the last few weeks I have been trying to learn more and more about this culture that is so different from the one I was raised in. They have different social customs here that have taken some time to get used to as well. I have accidentally offended many people since I came here. Finally I am catching a groove on the court. Coming to play with the Yankees Jr. crew was intimidating a bit because they already had some great talent here. Now I know I belong... just look at the stats.

This last game I shot and awesome percentage, dished out 10 asst and managed a whooping 6 steals. It felt great out there. Like so many of our games, our opponent was not of equal quality so many of our games feel like scrimages. That is good and bad. It is good because I can really just relax and enjoy the game, but it may come back to haunt us when we have a tougher team to face.

Are you in a groove yet with a team? What's that? You don't have a team yet.. well head over to http://www.cyberdunk.com and sign up for one. It's free and a load of fun!

Ohgie Mcgee wonders about playing time

I'm no coach and I don't think anyone would confuse me for one out on the court, but it seems to me that you try to get you good players working well together and you also try to bring up your bench so you have depth. I can understand playing the bench in scrap time and since all of our games this year have been blowouts, well it should come as no surprise to me that I am not playing very much. Let's take a look at our last game:

We were playing New Delhi Millionaires and the final score was 151 - 23 ... we won.

Only one player played the entire game and that was our center. He was named man of the match and if you look at his final stat line, he did bring a triple double. Of course many others on the team could have done so as well if they had played the entire game. He shot 12/17 which is respectable, chipped in 10 asst, and 12 rebounds. He had a great game.

In contrast, I only played 29:49 and shot 12/13, 5asst, and 3 rebounds. I did not even play half the time this guy did and I scored within 2 points.

It can be frustrating watching others drink in the limelight and get all the stats when you know you could do so as well if you were given a full opportunity. I still question why any team has more than 6 players in this league (well maybe 7 if you're really concerned about fouls). There are no injuries, any well developed character has stamina all game, and people do not fouls out very often if they train right. So I sit on the bench and watch at least half of a pro vs high school game every night. I am just worried about keeping my motivation up. Maybe if I headed over to http:www.talkdep.com I could message my coach and talk to him about how I feel. I doubt it will make much difference though. Of course I could again post how much I disagree with any team caring more than 7 players to see what kinds of conversations that brings up : )

As long as we are not playing against teams in at our talent level, I will not be playing much I guess.

Ohgie McGee trying to fit in in India

Well my first game was great, but the last two games have been .. well not so hot. My shooting is still decent but I am only getting a few shots. I wonder if the coach might think I was a passing PG even though all the workouts with him comments were made about how good a shooter I was. Maybe this is an attempt to help me grown in my game.

We have been blowing out competition easy enough so maybe I am being kept as a "secrete weapon". I am also getting only 3 quarters of play. Strangely, playing 3 quarters a game is more stressful and tiring for me. I wonder if I just get in a groove by the 4th. The kid they have coming in for me really has not done a whole lot with the time he has been given. Maybe I will get longer play time as the coach sees the production difference.

It is hard to stay motivated when things are not going as you expect. If your looking to find some motivating statements from famous people, check out http://www.focusdep.com
